A Memory of My Coat

At a cold day with heavy rain, I only wore a thin uniform and went home tiredly. I was a senior high school student at that time, so I always studied at school till about nine o’clock p.m. and went to cafĂ© to continue studying till it closed.

When I got home, my mother sent her regards to me with a kind smile likewise and gave me hot soup and some food. After taking a hot bath, I entered my room to continue studying for the examination next day. All of sudden, my thinking was broken by my mother’s knock and she called me out. I walked out my room with doubt. Mother gave me a baseball coat which she bought it from Taipei that morning. The coat is coffee and there are haps inside, so it could make me warm. What a surprise day!

Till now, I always wear the baseball coat in winter. Although it was old and a little fading, I still love it very much. Because it symbolize my mother’s love and concern to me.

Paper Cutting

I conbine paper cutting with light. I want it like a kind of Chinese traditional light which the pattern inside can turn around and cast the pictures.

The new work Eleanor assigned last week is making a 1:1 paper model. I cut the model by hand and spent over three day to make.

Though my hand was blistered and I was very tired, I had sense of fulfillment and I love the handmade model very much.

Museum of Tomorrow

There was a new museum in Taipei City several months ago. Walking straight on Civic Blvd, you will see the museum on your right. It is called Museum of Tomorrow. Museum of Tomorrow is transformed from an old car factory of Nissan. The museum is covered by big white canvas, and there is a big title “Museum of Tomorrow.” By the way, It is a 24 hours non stop museum, so you can go there even when the midnight. The night scene is more beautiful. There are several lights projecting on the canvas. Its appearance is full of modern and avant-garde.

Entering the museum, the space is very wide. There are lines of calendars beside the gate, to let visitors tear down and bring home to be a souvenir. The calendars symbolize passing of time. Besides, Museum of Tomorrow retains those original steel bars and old walls of factory, and there are brick-like chairs on the floor. Air ball-like adornments suspend on the ceiling and posters of exhibition hang between pillars. It is a very special space.

Museum of Tomorrow is a new concept museum. The conception of founder is “A Better Tomorrow,” and combines creativeness, culture, environment and art. I think that Museum of Tomorrow is not so much a museum as bring a new living style to people.
